Melanie Sliwka has been coaching and training at the SEALFIT Intergrated Training Center for many years and is the eleventh woman in the world to pass through the civilian version of the Navy SEALs Hell week. Formerly a competitive surfer, Melanie is no stranger to extreme physical acts and also the toll they can take on your body. Melanie uses many different tools and technics to recover and repair her body from this extreme training regime. Yoga, acupuncture, massage therapy, chiropractic and, of course, floating all keep Melanie ready for anything life, or work, have to throw at her. Melanie just released her first book, SEALFIT’s 6 Weeks To Cleaner Eating and companion program.  She feels very blessed and fortunate to be in a space where she can learn and grow through radical new technology and age old meditation and self-realization.  She chooses to make every day better than the last. Rita Gribben

Rita Gribben

Purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)

Rita Gribben is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) currently training under Leticia Ribeiro at Gracie Humaita South Bay. Rita’s competition successes include:

Bronze – Pan Jiu Jitsu IBJJF Championship – Feather Weight Division
Bronze – Pan Jiu Jitsu IBJJF Championship – Open Weight Division
Gold – Dream Jiu Jitsu Adult Gi Open – 115 lbs Weight Division
Bronze – Las Vegas Spring International IBJJF Championship – Light Feather Weight Division

Competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu can be very taxing on the body and mind. Since experiencing first-hand the benefits of floating, Rita has made it part of her competition routine to visit Float North County the day before a big tournament. She uses the float tank to help get in the zone. Rita attributes floating to helping her to meditate and visualize her game plan easily with no external distractions. “It snaps me out of all the chaos of a fast-paced life and strict training camp leading up to a competition, allowing me to redirect my focus on the task at hand. When I leave Float North County, it’s like a cloud of stress has been lifted. I feel calm, confident and I go home to have THE BEST deep sleep! The time spent immersed in an epsom salt bath is also very effective in healing my body and sore muscles and assists me in cutting weight (if need be) to make my weight class. Float North County is really helping me elevate my athletic performance to the next level.” says Rita.
